A Type-1 hypervisor written from scratch in Rust that boots with no host OS and runs every Kubernetes pod as its own microVM, with the co-designed iron-kernel as each pod's kernel. These are terminal recordings; the player is asciinema-player, served from this repository, and the casts are the files in it.
A real kube-apiserver, scheduler and kubelet place a Deployment (replicas=2) of stock nginx on the node. Each pod boots as its own microVM, and the hypervisor's console shows each one getting a private memory window and a dedicated host core. A real kube-proxy load-balances a ClusterIP Service across both pods. Then stock PostgreSQL keeps its data on a pod volume served by the hypervisor's paravirtual block device. Press play; the text is selectable.
Recorded on a hosted AMD EPYC server, with Ironvisor running nested under KVM and the Kubernetes control plane on the server's Linux. Idle gaps are capped at 3 s. kubernetes.cast
